Aproveitando o fim de uma promoção da PS Publishing, fiz há pouco tempo, mais uma encomenda. The Last Book é mais um livro de Zoran Zivkovic, o único que me faltava dos que foram publicados em inglês por esta editora. Este não é, no entanto, mais um livro de contos, antes uma história misteriosa em torno de várias mortes numa livraria, cujas vítimas apenas tinham em comum a leitura de um livro, The Last Book:

Is a literary madman on the loose, murdering readers according to the method laid down in The Name of the Rose? Passing for Human é uma das antologias que me suscitaram alguma curiosidade, com histórias que se centram em seres alienígenas que vivem entre os seres humanos, mascarados.

Entre os autores podemos encontrar vários nomes conhecidos, como Theodore Sturgeon, Ray Bradbury, Paul DiFilippo, Robert Silverberg, Carol Emshwiller ou Jeff Vandermeer. Para uma lista completa de conteúdos com referência a serem histórias originais, podem consultar o site de Michael Bishop.

Harsh Oarses é também uma antologia, mas reúne trabalhos apenas de um aut0r, Paul di Filippo, assim como The Day it Rained Forever de Ray Bradbury:

Cage of Night é uma pequena novela de Ed Gorman, mais conhecido pelas histórias nos géneros mistério e crime:

Twenty-one-year-old Spence returns to his hometown after two years in the Army and falls in love with Cindy Brasher, Homecoming Queen and town goddess to a long line of jealous men.

A string of robberies puts Spence at odds with his obsessive love for Cindy. One by one Spence’s rivals are implicated in horrorific crimes.

The Crown Conspiray e Avempartha são os dos primeiros volumes da série fantástica, Riyria Revelations. Ainda só li o primeiro e apesar de ter algumas parte engraçadas, falta capacidade de caracterização de personagens. Espero que no segundo volume a escrita do autor melhore, visto ter algumas ideias que poderão ser bem exploradas:

O Manuscrito Perdido de Lord Byron, da autoria de John Crowley, centra-se na possibilidade de Byron ter terminado a sua história de fantasmas, na mítica noite de tempestade em que terá desafiado Mary Shelley e Polidori, surgindo Frankenstein e Vampyre. Em O Manuscrito Perdido de Lord Byron acompanhamos a estranha história por detrás do romance de Bryon, assim como temos a possibilidade de ler a própria história.
