Já publicado em Portugal pela Editora Objectiva, The Strain é um livro de acção, muito visual, onde podemos encontrar vampiros meio mortos semelhantes a zombies, uma história que relembra os típicos filmes de horror: as cenas macabras proliferam, entre cabeças cortadas e linfa branca e pagajosa.

The Fall é o título do segundo volume desta trilogia, seguindo com as mesmas personagens que deixámos em The Strain:

The tension-filled sequel to The Strain, from the world-famous director whose films include Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy. Humans have been displaced at the top of the food chain, and now understand – to their outright horror – what it is to be not the consumer, but the consumed.

The Quantum Thief é um dos poucos livros de ficção científica publicado em inglês de um autor estrangeiro, Hannu Rajaniemi, que tem recebido inúmeros elogios:

Um dos temas mais atraentes será com certeza How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe. A história decorre em torno de um homem, Charles Yu, que arranja máquinas do tempo, tendo como companhia apenas o computador e um cão imaginário:

With only TAMMY – a slightly tearful computer with self-esteem issues – a software boss called Phil – Microsoft Middle Manager 3.0 – and an imaginary dog called Ed for company, fixing time machines is a lonely business and Charles Yu is stuck in a rut. He’s spent the better part of a decade navel-gazing, spying on 39 different versions of himself in alternate universes (and discovered that 35 of them are total jerks). And he’s kind of fallen in love with TAMMY, which is bad because she doesn’t have a module for that. De retorno ao género horror, The Passage apresenta uma história semelhante a outras histórias do género, onde a civilização humana colapsa como resultado de uma praga de vampiros, fruto de secretas experiências militares:

Harbour é o último título de John Ajvide Lindqvist, o autor que ficou conhecido com Let the Right one in.  Este parece ser também uma história sombria envolvendo o sobrenatural:

It was a beautiful winter’s day. Anders, his wife and their feisty six-year-old, Maja, set out across the ice of the Swedish archipelago to visit the lighthouse on Gavasten. There was no one around, so they let her go on ahead. And she disappeared, seemingly into thin air, and was never found. Two years later, Anders is a broken alcoholic, his life ruined. He returns to the archipelago, the home of his childhood and his family. But all he finds are Maja’s toys and through the haze of memory, loss and alcohol, he realizes that someone or something is trying to communicate with him. Soon enough, his return sets in motion a series of horrifying events which exposes a mysterious and troubling relationship between the inhabitants of the remote island and the sea.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers ou The Body Snatchers de Jack Finney é um dos próximos títulos a incorporar a colecção SF Masterworks da Gollancz, que terá originado os filmes com o mesmo nome:

Most people know the story from seeing THE INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, the classic 1978 remake (one of the few Hollwood remakes said to better than the original, made in 1956) starring Donald Sutherland.
